2011 Italian Connection Trophy Dinner dubbed best event on Gundagai Calendar...
A strong crowd of over 100 attended the Daily Advertiser 2011 Italian Connection Trophy Community Rally Dinner held in Gundagai on Saturday May 21.
With guest of honour - Aussie Showbiz Icon, Maria Venuti AM - the night was sure to be a cracker! Maria declaring there was more support in the room than for Sydney Harbour Bridge, was sure to get the laughter started.
After some light hearted singing and entertainment, Maria gave a small glimpse into her colourful life and shared some of life's little lessons.
A passionate charity worker, Maria is keen to spread the word about the Rally's official charity, the Duchenne Foundation, which is busily researching for a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is the most common form of muscular dystrophy affecting 1 in 3,500 live born males in all races. It is caused by a mutation of a gene on the X chromosome, which provides the instruction for the production of the protein Dystrophin. This protein is located inside the muscle cell membrane. When it is absent the muscle cells collapse and die and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy develops.
