Cr Maslin steps down from Gundagai Shire Council...

The time has now come whereby I must relinquish my position as a Councillor on Gundagai Shire Council to focus on my position with the NSW Government.

My passion has always been and will continue to be, to deliver for Gundagai and regional NSW. I believe that I can best serve that purpose by focusing my attention on my responsibilities in serving the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government.

Reflecting on my time on Council, I consider I have worked to deliver some great outcomes for Gundagai.

Highlights include the establishment of the Youth Council, finalisation of the Main Street redevelopment plans, introduction of a green waste trial, funding for main street banners, West St vegetation clean up, the various Italian Connection Trophies, 2010 Tremendous Trek, amongst others.

My newsletter ‘Out & About', and my e-newsletter ‘The Weekly', have helped keep me in touch with local community news and views.

Some projects that I will continue to pursue include a Business Investment Strategy for the Gundagai Shire and an increase to the pensioner rebate through a legislative amendment. As always, I will continue to champion the Gundagai brand.

With the upcoming Local Government elections, I encourage you to strongly consider standing for Council if you would like to effect change and build a better Gundagai for future generations.

I wish my colleagues success for the remainder of the term and every good wish for those seeking re-election.

Finally, I thank those that have supported my venture into public life and I would also like to thank every resident of the Gundagai Shire for giving me the privilege of serving our community.
