Born on February 15, William grew up on the family farm near the small town Ardlethan located approximately one hour north of Wagga Wagga, in the Coolamon Shire
William attended Ardlethan Central School for his primary education and then to St Gregory's College Campbelltown as a boarder for his secondary education.
William has completed his Certificate II in Hospitality (Operations) and Certificate II in Information Technology (Support) and Diploma of Management.
William has enjoyed many sports, but at present doesn't mind a game of social bowls for a good cause or kayaking down the Tumut and Murrumbidgee River's.
In 2005, William began working at the Gundagai Post Office. This gives him great access to his constituents and keeps him up-to-date on the many issues facing the Community.
During his spare time William enjoys travelling around the countryside to places he hasn't been. When the car is in the garage, William enjoys catching up with friends, or just making the most of some peace and quiet by filling in time getting through his collection of books, magazines and DVD's.
William is involved in the local community in many ways. He is passionate about the betterment of Gundagai and the local community. In September 2008, William was elected to represent the people of the Shire on the Gundagai Shire Council, currently being the youngest person on Council.
In July 2009, William was elected to the position of Vice Chairman of the National Party Gundagai Branch. In 2010, William was elected to the position of Chairman of the National Party Gundagai Branch, which saw him run for Nationals' preselection for Riverina in May 2010. While unsuccessful with preselection, William says the experience was invaluable and will no doubt further help him in his role as an elected representative on Gundagai Shire Council.
William is very passionate about representing the views of rural and regional Australia. William has the political ambition of representing the Federal Division of Riverina.

William is the eldest son of David and Jennie Maslin and has a younger sister Melanie who works in the family business and a younger brother Benjamin who goes to school at St Gregory's College Campbelltown.
