5 March 2010

Greetings!

Firstly, at this late stage in the year, I hope you all had a safe and happy Christmas and New Year. 2010 is shaping up to be a good year so far with the current rain that we have received so far, as long as we continue to get the follow up falls.

This Sunday is the 20th Clean Up Australia Day. Please strongly consider giving up a small two and a half hours of your day on Sunday morning to help with the effort. Come to Yarri Park at 8:30 with your hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, closed shoes and your gloves. Following the clean up will be a BBQ lunch and a time to socialise with your fellow citizens.

On the February 25, I was pleased to announce that I have entered into a lucrative sponsorship deal with NAB Gundagai. Thanks to NAB Gundagai, this has ensured my entry in the Italian Connection Trophy. As mentioned last year, it is now confirmed that the ICT will be including Gundagai as one of its destinations once again and the motorkhana will be held in Gundagai this year.

There is a twist, the Motorkhana will be held under lights - this is an exciting ICT first. Also, there will be a community dinner to be held at the Gundagai District Services Club. Members of the community are most welcome to attend, and it is an amazingly fun night, so make sure you keep Friday May 21 free in your diary.

Considering the beautiful rain that we have had so far this year, I have decided that it may be a good year to hold the Garden Competition once again. It will probably be in the same format as the pervious competition and most importantly entry will be free.

At the last Council meeting digital television service was raised. I had done some research on the matter early last year and sought feedback and advice from the broadcasters. I will be keeping Council and the community informed on the matter.

If you are concerned and would like some information, my first suggestion would be to visit www.digitalready.gov.au. This website explains the digital TV service, what equipment is needed and the rollout dates for digital TV. If you still have concerns, please leave your details with my office and I will make sure you get the necessary information to make an informed decision.

Media Releases so far this year

I look forward to another year of representing you and wish you all the best for 2010.

Regards,

William.
