11 November 2009

Good Morning Everyone,

I have been away the last two Friday's and hence there has been no Weekly.

Australians will observe a minute of silence at 11am today, to mark 91 years since the armistice was signed to end World War I.

People should not only remember those who lost their lives in wars on Remembrance Day, but also those survivors who were left damaged by their experiences. These are the real victims of war, those who are living but still enduring the hellish nightmares that resulted from service to the nation.

We must never forget them - we must never neglect them. A Remembrance Day service will be held today at ANZAC Grove.

The Dog on the Tuckerbox Festival and Snake Gully Cup start this weekend. It will be great to see the town a buzz. Best wishes to all of those involved in the organising and coordinating of events and I hope everyone has a fun and enjoyable weekend with friends and family.

There is an important Pink Ribbon event coming up on Thursday the 3rd of December at Nargoon Estate. There will be a private showing by simply beautiful collections of clothing, gourmet food ranges and stunning giftware suppliers. If you would like more information, please contact Erica Beggs on 0407 293 684 or Sarah Triggs on (02) 6948 4122.

The Gundagai Local Phonebook which is a fundraiser for the Gundagai Preschool, was printed over the weekend. It is anticipated that they should be ready to go on sale in the next fortnight, so keep an eye out for them.

The Gundagai High School held a social evaluation meeting at the Gundagai District Services Club on Monday evening. This event was well attended by the business community. One thing that came from the evening was the potential upgrade of facilities at the High School under the Commonwealths Trade Training Centres program if a funding submission is successful.

The High School is seeking support from local business by way of a letter of support to be included in their funding submission. I think that this will create great opportunities for our kids if successful and call on every business that can support this to do so.

If you would like more information, please contact the Principal Jennifer Miggins or Careers Adviser Neil Armstrong on 6944 1233.

Have a nice weekend!

Regards,

William.
