The Tremendous Trek is now taking registrations so to sign up for this wonderful personal challenge visit www.tremendoustrek.com.au
Here is the spiel from Friday's press release:
The Tremendous Trek is a charity walk from Canberra to Gundagai raising funds for the Gundagai Branch of Can Assist. The trek, the brainchild of Gundagai locals, Drew Miller, Peter Lott, Peter Reardon and Craig Ferguson, was designed to be a “personal challenge” for those interested.
The trek, spread over three days, will cover 103km and will see trekkers tackle the Brindabella Mountain range and every other hill in-between. Averaging 35km a day, trekkers will arrive at each destination to be treated with scrumptious meals prepared by an army of volunteers, to then snuggle up in the five star luxuries of the tent or swag.
Hoards of people will line streets clapping and cheering, welcoming the trekker's home, all to be followed by a nice cold drink and a snag or two. There will be screams of laughter and an occasional tear here and there, as the trekkers tell all of what they had to bear.
The excitement on that day to come, is being felt right now, as registrations arrive one by one. So to be part of all this fun, now it's time to say what the heck and fill out the form for the Tremendous Trek.
Pay your fee and you're on the way, we'll see you on our next practice day. For information or to register please visit www.tremendoustrek.com.au .
Local Environmental Plan (LEP) – there will be an additional Information Forum to be held on Wednesday, August 25, from 12 noon until 7pm for any interested resident or ratepayer to attend and discuss the proposed LEP currently on exhibition.
Any person wishing to make an appointment can do so by contact Ms Georgina Piper at the Council office on 6944 0200. Please remember that submissions are encouraged, must be in writing and to be lodged by Friday, August 27 2010.
Netball Courts Update – Council through REROC was unsuccessful in obtaining federal funding for the netball courts and swimming pool works. However, subsequently, I called a meeting between Council representatives and Gundagai Netball to discuss ways forward. The meeting was very positive with Council and netball working towards a plan that allows players to play in Gundagai temporarily in the short term while working towards a more permanent solution.
I have received a response from the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy regarding digital television reception for the Gundagai Area. I have sent copies to constituents that had registered their details with me. If you would like to peruse this, I will place a copy of it on my website on the homepage in the upcoming weeks.
Regards,
William.
